What's This?

With more and more smartphone manufacturers turning to Silicon-carbon technology for their batteries, we’ve seen a lot of new devices come equipped with larger capacities than usual, as seen with the likes of the Honor Power, which manages to cram an 8,000 mAh battery inside. While the new Oppo K13’s battery comes at a lower 7,000 mAh capacity, it’s still fairly impressive especially considering that it’s priced at less than 200 quid. What else does it come with though? Let’s take a look.

CHECK OUT: The Honor Power’s Huge Battery is Impressive

In terms of looks, there’s nothing that the K13 does that hasn’t been done by another smartphone before. Sure, you can call it “boring” but it’s clear that Oppo was looking to give buyers a familiar look that doesn’t stray too much from established product design principles over the last decade. the K13’s flat sides and notch-less design give it a clean appearance in general, although we’d argue that the camera module at the back is a bit too iPhone 11-esque. It does come with IP65 dust and water protection though, which is a nice addition at this price range.

Going over to the display, the phone has a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a 1080×2400 pixel resolution, in addition to a 120hz refresh rate and up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness. It’s not the brightest of displays out there, but for the price we reckon that most users will be fine with this for moderate use, such as Netflix binges, content consumption, web browsing and maybe even a bit of gaming every now and then.

We say “every now and then” because the phone won’t be the most versatile performer, especially given its somewhat limited chipset. Inside the K13 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, which is a more modest processor intended for low-end smartphones. It’s a big leap over what you’d get in the day for this price though, but don’t expect to run intensive gaming titles on here. It’s accompanied by 8GB of RAM, in addition to a choice of either 128 or 256GB of internal storage.

For software, you’re getting Android 15 on here with Oppo’s exclusive apps and software features, and Oppo says that it will provide up to two years of major Android upgrades for the K13. In a time when most smartphone brands offer five to seven years of updates this can seem like a bummer, but again we go back to the K13’s budget-friendly price—there’s bound to be some compromises, after all. Going back to the 7,000 mAh battery, the phone also supports 80W fast charging, which should be ideal in situations where you might need a quick top-up before going out and about.

In terms of cameras, the phone features a dual-setup with a 50MP main camera, in addition to a 2MP depth sensor and a 16MP front camera. Other details include stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
