Another day, another new midrange Android phone – this time it’s Vivo who’s in the spotlight, with the debut of the new vivo Y300 Pro+. Now before you dismiss it as another run-of-the-mill Android phone, the Y300 Pro+’s biggest advantage is its extremely large battery, which comes in at a whopping 7300 mAh, outsizing most other smartphones within its price range. With that said though, let’s take a quick look at what else the phone has to offer.

As is the norm for most handsets in the mid-tier department, the Y300 Pro+ comes with a large 6.77-inch AMOLED display, which features a resolution of 2392×1080 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. This display is wrapped inside a plastic chassis that’s available in three different colours including black, pink, and silver, with a large camera module that sits in the centre of the rear panel (as is the rage with most Chinese smartphone brands nowadays). it does manage to look good though, and at first glance you might even mistake it for a flagship device.

Perhaps one dead giveaway of the phone’s midrange origins is the chipset inside. Vivo has decided to go with the Qualcomm Snaodragon 7s Gen 3 for the Y300 Pro+, and while it’s a capable SoC it’s not exactly at the same level as on Qualcomm’s flagship silicon offerings such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite and even the 8 Gen 3. Overall though it’s still a terrific choice, and does come with either 8 or 12GB of RAM, with storage options ranging from 128 to 512GB. For software you are getting Android with OriginOS 15, with pre-installed apps and third-party software.
Going back to the battery, the 7,300 mAh cell inside is undoubtedly the phone’s biggest highlight – by comparison most other smartphones come with 5,000 mAh batteries at the most, and while some come with larger capacities, it’s rare to see one with this size. A single-cell battery, it also supports 90W charging speeds so charging it shouldn’t take too long despite its massive capacity.

As for its cameras, the Vivo Y300 Pro+ comes with a 32MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture and offers modes for photos, portraits, night scenes, and film camera effects. Housed within the circular camera island is a dual-camera setup combines a 50MP main camera with an f/1.79 aperture and a 2MP secondary lens with an f/2.4 aperture. Both front and rear cameras utilize CMOS sensors, with the front supporting 1.19x digital zoom and the rear offering up to 10x digital zoom, with video recording at up to 4K resolution.
