Xiaomi’s New In-house Chip is Now a Reality

Xiaomi’s been busy lately—after several rumours that the Chinese tech giant was working on its own in-house chip, the company finally introduced the Xiaomi XRING O1 SoC alongside the Xiaomi XRING T1 4G smartwatch SoC, alongside the Xiaomi 15S Pro and Pad 7 Ultra which are both powered by the latter.

The Xiaomi XRING O1 is built on a 3nm process. and features 19 billion transistors, a 10-core CPU (including dual Cortex-X925 cores at 3.9GHz), and a 16-core Immortalis-G925 GPU, which was able to score 3 million points on AnTuTu benchmarks (based on the company’s testing). It also comes with Xiaomi’s fourth-gen ISP and a 6-core NPU offering 44 TOPS for AI processing.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi XRING T1 is the company’s first 4G smartwatch chip with a self-developed 4G baseband. The chip supports eSIM connectivity, and Xiaomi claims that it’s able to improve 4G performance by 35% over competitors while reducing power consumption, at least based on its tests. The XRING T1 will be featured in the new Xiaomi Watch S4 15th Anniversary Version.

The company also announced the new Xiaomi 15S Pro, which comes with a new cooling design that allows for up to 30% heat dissipation, four dynamic low-power modes, and a dedicated micro-control unit. The phone runs on a 6,100 mAh battery and also includes a Surge G1 battery management chip and a Surge P3 charging chip. Up front you’ll find a 2K-resolution with a 6.73-inch display that tops at 3200 nits. It’s available in a Xiaomi Composite Fiber Edition with aramid fiber and a carbon-fiber texture, and a Sky Blue variant with a matte fiberglass back.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra features a 14-inch 3.2K OLED display with 1600 nits of peak brightness, housed in a 5.1 mm metal unibody that weighs at just 609 grams. The tablet also packs a large 12,000 mAh battery with support for Xiaomi’s 120W HyperCharge feature, and the company claims that it can last for up to 18.95 hours of continuous video playback. The tablet also includes a 32MP ultra-wide front camera and a 50MP rear camera, with audio delivered through an eight-speaker system.

Additionally, Xiaomi is offering keyboard cover which is made using magnesium alloy, and offers a full-size backlit keyboard with a haptic touchpad. The Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra is available in Misty Purple and Classic Black, starting at 5699 RMB.
