What's This?

Another week, another new Redmi phone. Xiaomi’s track record for launching multiple smartphone models under its different sub-brands throughout the year remains impressive, and the company once again expands upon its portfolio with the new Redmi K90 Pro Max. For those unaware, the Redmi “K” series is usually exclusive for Chinese markets, and the Redmi K90 Pro Max continues this tradition. That in mind, what does Xiaomi’s new premium Redmi handset come with ?

In terms of pricing, the Redmi K90 Pro Max slots into place within the more expensive end of the spectrum at around $560 once converted, and for good reason. You see, the phone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is the highest-end processor that the latter offers at the moment. It also comes with a loudspeaker tuned by BOSE, which is something that’s rarely found on the lower-end Redmi smartphones.

In addition to its powerful chipset, the K90 Pro Max also comes in a variety of different storage and RAM setups—the phone is available with a base setup of 12GB of RAM paired with either 256GB or 512GB of storage, although there’s a more generous option of up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. For power, the phone packs a massive 7,560mAh silicon carbon battery, which is all the rage these days. The handset also supports fast charging at 100W speeds, along with 50W wireless and 25W reverse wireless charging as well.

In terms of aesthetics, the phone is available in a range of different colours including Black, White, Denim Blue, and a special Lamborghini White edition, with a camera island that resembles a handful of other smartphones out there (we won’t mention who). In front, there’s a fairly-large 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display, which gets pretty bright at up to 3500 nits peak. It’s also smooth thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate, and Xiaomi saw it fit to include display protection in the form of Dragon Crystal Glass (no Gorilla Glass hardware on here).

For its cameras, the Redmi K90 Pro Max features a triple-50MP camera system which consists of a 50MP main sensor with OIS, in addition to a 50MP ultrawide lens and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens; these are joined by a 32MP front-facing camera which takes care of selfies and video calls.
