What's This?

If the past few years have been any indication, it’s safe to say that Android OEMs have gone all-in with tablets again, as seen with a wide variety of different models from productivity-focused devices like the new Oppo Pad 5, all the way down to dedicated gaming machines, for example. With regards to the latter, Chinese brand Headwolf recently announced its new Titan 1 tablet, which is designed for users looking for a bit of on-the-go gaming action.

The Titan 1 tablet was announced over on Kickstarter, and comes with some decent specs which put it in line with a lot of midrange devices, although that’s not to say that it’s a pushover when it comes to hardware. For one, the tablet runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor—it’s not exactly the latest and greatest 9500 model from MediaTek, but can still hold its own in terms of performance. For memory and storage, the Titan 1 comes with 12GB of RAM in addition to 256 of internal storage, although there’s also support for expandable TF storage of up to 2TB capacity.

In terms of design, the Titan 1 is a bit more subdued compared to other gaming tablets on the market with more angular and lively designs. It does come a few accents on the power button and logos all over the back, but nothing that really screams “look at me” should you pull it out in public. This design wraps around an 8.8-inch display with a sharp 2.5K resolution, as well as a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 500 nits of brightness, which isn’t too bright considering what we’re getting on most smartphones these days, a lot of which go beyond 2000-nit brightness levels.

With that said though, its relatively compact design should come in handy especially for users who prefer using their tablet for long periods of time. Going back under the hood, the Titan 1 is powered by a decently-sized 7,200mAh battery with PD charging support, as well as a cooling system which combines a double-layer superconducting graphene component, a vapour chamber, as well as CPU cooling gel.

As for pricing and availability, Headwolf has yet to release more details regarding the Titan 1, so interested buyers will have to keep an eye on the device’s Kickstarter page.
