Xiaomi has officially launched the latest addition to its POCO F7 series in the form of the new POCO F7, which interestingly comes much later than the launch of the POCO F7 Pro and Ultra from a while back. Don’t let the lack of a “Pro” or “Ultra” moniker fool you though, as the POCO F7 arrives with a spec sheet that surprisingly holds its own, even against its higher-end siblings.

As far as looks go, the F7 doesn’t come with the circular camera island seen on the other F7, opting for a more conventional vertical camera bump. It maintains the two-tone design of the other F7 devices though, which extends to the camera window—the latter even has some green accents, which at first glance one might mistake for RGB lighting. It’s available in classic black and white, with a special “Cyber” edition featuring a distinctive Snapdragon design accent and a transparent glass effect on the rear.

Going over the display, the POCO F7 comes with 6.83-inch AMOLED panel, which actually outsizes the screens on the F7 Pro and Ultra, albeit at a lower resolution of 1280 x 2772 pixels. The display comes with a peak brightness of 3200 nits, a 120Hz refresh rate, including a protective layer of Gorilla Glass 7i, with a pre-installed screen film protector as well.
Taking a look at the inside, the POCO F7 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, with performance slightly close to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The phone also features 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, which maxes out at 512GB. Xiaomi says that the phone’s built-in IceLoop cooling system and AI-based thermal controls should provide optimal performance during demanding tasks like gaming, for example. You’re getting Hyper OS 2 for software, which comes with the usual array of built-in Xiaomi apps like Mi Browser, Mi Store, and a POCO Community app, to name a few.

Battery life is another major highlight—the POCO F7 packs a massive 6500 mAh battery that’s significantly larger than those found in the F7 Pro and Ultra. It should be noted though that the Indian variant of the phone comes with an even larger 7550 mAh battery, and the phone is able to charge at up to 90W speeds. For photography, the F7 comes with a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide sensor, alongside a 20MP front-facing camera. Video recording reaches 4K at 30fps for the rear cameras, while the front camera supports up to 1080p.

Finally, the most standout aspect of the POCO F7 is its competitive starting price of just £389 for the 256GB variant, with Xiaomi offering an early bird deal at just £319. At this price it’s hard to beat, especially since it’s not everyday that you get a premium-grade handset for a considerably low price.
