It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen a smartphone from Acer—yes, that same Acer—and while the veteran PC manufacturer has poured a lot of effort into its Windows and Chromebook lineups, we’ve yet to see a new smartphone entry from the brand. That all changes today though, with the launch of the new Acer Super ZX and Super ZX Pro (quite the naming), two new handsets which at the moment are exclusive for buyers in India.

With that in mind, both the Super ZX and Pro are meant for budget buyers, priced at around 90 and 180 EUR respectively. Unsurprisingly though they both come with modest specs. For one, both devices are equipped with MediaTek’s mid-tier chipsets with the Dimensity 6300 for the Super ZX, and a Dimensity 7400 chipset for the Super ZX Pro. These aren’t cutting-edge processors by any means, but they’ll be enough for most users within this price segment who need a device for daily usage such as calls and messaging, social media, web browsing, and maybe some light gaming as well.

The base model comes with your standard memory and storage configuration of 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, although interestingly, the Pro model bumps this up to a respectable 12GB, which when combined with the Dimensity 7400 should make for a much smoother user experience overall. For battery, the base model is powered by a 5,000 mAh capacity cell with support for 33W charging, and this goes the same for the Pro model.
As for design, the Acer Super ZX series goes for a look that’s commonly found on a lot of smartphones form Chinese manufacturers, which is highlighted by a large centralized camera bump. The base model features a 6.78-inch LCD screen with a 1080p resolution, so it’s pretty much a basic affair as far as display quality goes. Thankfully though, the Pro variant comes with an AMOLED display which measures at 6.67 inches, and should be more ideal for content consumption. As for their cameras, both handsets come with a high-resolution 64MP main camera, which uses a Sony-branded sensor, and Acer adds that it also supports AI photography features.

Acer is one of a handful of older brands which have released new smartphone models in the past couple of years, along with the likes of HTC (which has likewise stuck to budget devices) from a couple of years ago. There’s no word yet on whether or not Acer plans to bring its new Super ZX phones to Western markets, however.
