What's This?

It’s no secret that Lenovo’s Legion Tablet range has been popular among Android fans who are looking for a balance between power and portability, and the company has launched a follow-up to its capable little tablet from a year ago. More specifically, the company recently announced the Lenovo Legion Y700 4th Gen, which builds on what made its predecessors stand out from the rest of the Android tablet segment.

The firs thing you’ll notice on the Legion Y700 4th Gen is its vibrant 8.8-inch IPS LCD display, which comes with an impressively-smooth 165Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and HDR10 for richer colours and contrast, and a peak brightness of up to 900 nits. The display also features a 1600 x 2560 pixel resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio, alongside reasonably-small bezels, at least as far as tablets are concerned.

Unlike ASUS’ ROG gaming phones, the Legion Y700 comes with a more subdued look, similar to its predecessor. It’s encased in a sleek-looking metal body with bold “Legion” branding on the rear, and it’s clear that Lenovo wants to keep things familiar and simple as possible given the rather similar design to last year’s model.

Going over on the inside, Lenovo has equipped the Y700 4th Gen with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset which should be capable for both intensive apps and games, and even more so when handling day-today usage such as web browsing, multi-tasking, and more. Users can choose between 12GB of RAM paired with 256GB of internal storage or 16GB of RAM with 512GB of storage, the latter of which should provide more than enough space for most users, and there’s even support for expandable microSD storage for cards up to 2TB capacity.

The tablet comes with Android 14 and to up to three major Android upgrades as well, which is much-welcome nowadays. Lenovo says that it’s also equipped the Y700 with its Center Cooling Architecture 2.0, which should keep things from getting too hot even with prolonged usage.

Much like most other tablets these days, the Legion Y700 4th Gen also features a camera setup on the rear—this consists of a main 13MP wide lens, which is accompanied by a secondary 2MP macro lens as well as an LED flash is also present for low-light scenarios; the rear camera system can record video at 1080p@30fps, and there’s front-facing camera with an 8MP sensor capable of recording 1080p video at 30fps.

Powering this entire setup is a 6550 mAh Li-Po battery, which should provide enough endurance for extended gaming sessions and all-day general use. The Legion Y700 4th Gen also supports fast 68W wired charging, and there’s also bypass charging included which should prove to be a handy feature should one want to keep on playing while topping up their battery. It’s priced at CNY 3,299, which is around $457 when converted.
