As with most other camera brands, Canon maintains different product lineups for different user tiers based on performance, hardware, pricing and more. First up is the Canon PowerShot V1, which includes a newly-designed grip that caters to both traditional and selfie shooting styles. It also packs an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens with approximately 17-52mm for movie recording and 16-50mm with an aperture of F2.8-4.5 for still photography. The camera is also equipped with a new 1.4 type sensor, and Dual Pixel CMOS AF II which Canon says enhances autofocus speed and subject detection tracking performance compared to the PowerShot G7 X Mark III.

The PowerShot V1 includes a built-in cooling fan which should come in handy for lengthy filming sessions. There’s also a dedicated still image/movie shooting switch that allows for quick and easy transitions between modes, and the camera offers continuous still shooting at up to approximately 30 frames per second, which works alongside a mechanical shutter with a maximum speed of 1/2000 seconds and an electronic shutter with a maximum speed of 1/16,000 seconds.

Additionally, creators can use the camera for high-quality video calls and livestreaming on a PC using a single USB cable, along with wired and wireless connectivity for smartphones via the Canon Camera Connect app.

Up next is the EOS R50 V, which Canon describes as a high-performance, movie-focused camera with features that are centred around video creation. With that in mind, the R50 V comes with a dedicated livestream button and movie recording button, and even a tripod attachment hole optimized for vertical shooting. There’s also Dual Pixel CMOS AF II onboard for smoother autofocus performance, and support for shooting 4K cropped video at 60 frames per second and in YCC 422 10bit, providing high-quality video output. Its also worth mentioning that the camera is compatible with the newly introduced RF-S14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens, which is the first RF-S lens to feature built-in power zoom.

Canon has also designed the EOS R50 V with four distinct methods for livestreaming, which include support for UVC/UAC, HDMI, Canon Camera Connect, and Live Switcher Mobile multi-camera. The camera’s APS-C sensor works with a DIGIC X image processor to create immersive bokeh effects, and there’s also image creation via five pre-set options for editing, including the professional-grade Canon Log 3.
