At the core of the S880DB MKII is an 88W RMS Dual Amplification System. Edifier says that this uses dual Class-D amplifiers, with a dedicated 12W of power to each tweeter and 32W to each woofer for a total of 88W. This setup does promise distortion-free dynamics at any volume, which should provide a more immersive listening experience which covers delicate vocals to more cinematic sound with better clarity.

The speakers are also precision-tuned with high-quality components for better frequency coverage, which includes 1.25-inch titanium-dome tweeters and 3.75-inch aluminium mid-woofers. These work together to cover an expansive frequency range of 20Hz to 40kHz, making the speakers ideal for critical listening, mixing music, and fully immersive entertainment.
Edifier adds that the S880DB MKII is capable of reproducing studio-grade sound with support for 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res audio via wired USB-C, Optical, and Coaxial connectivity, along with 24-bit/96kHz support via analog RCA connection. There’s also an advanced XMOS 16-core processor that reduces zero resampling for a sound that preserves the original audio quality from the source to listeners’ ears. The speakers also support wireless connectivity via Bluetooth 5.3 with the LDAC codec, which allows users to stream audio at speeds up to 990kbps; the speakers are also Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified for lossless performance over Bluetooth.

Like most dual-speaker setups, the Edifier S880DB MKII speakers come with an active and passive speaker, and are designed to be an expandable 2.1 system with support for a dedicated subwoofer output. The active speaker also comes with a ton of different physical controls for fine-tuning your audio, and Bluetooth connectivity means that you can also further adjust the speakers via the Edifier ConneX app for smartphones, which includes custom EQ profiles and support for firmware updates. There’s also a remote-control touch pad for added convenience.
