ASUS has been hard at work with its desktop and PC releases. More recently, the Taiwanese tech giant recently announced that its ProArt Display 8K PA32KCX will soon be hitting store shelves this October, with a price that goes for around a rather expensive $8,000. Equipped with a hood, ASUS describes it as the “world’s first 8K HDR mini LED professional monitor,” and is designed for content creators working on high-resolution workflows.

In terms of features, the PA32KCX features an 8K HDR panel with a resolution of 7680×4320, and it also uses mini LED technology including 4032-zone local dimming for better backlight control and reduced visual artifacts like the halo effect. It gets decently bright with a peak brightness of 1200 nits, in addition to 1000 nits of full-screen sustained brightness without partial patch limitations. The monitor likewise comes with support for a variety of HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HLG, and HDR10; other features include an ambient light sensor and a proximity sensor for automatic screen brightness adjustments.

In terms of colour, the true 10-bit IPS panel can display over 1.07 billion colours with coverage of 95% Adobe RGB, 97% DCI-P3, 100% sRGB, and 100% Rec. 709 colour gamuts. ASUS says that each unit is factory pre-calibrated to Delta E<1 colour difference value. Interestingly, ASUS has equipped the monitor with a built-in motorized colorimeter that also supports a standalone self-calibration feature, which is designed to work with any operating system; the monitor also works with ASUS Auto Calibration and ASUS Self-Calibration, including ASUS ProArt Calibration software.
For connectivity, the ProArt PA32KCX comes with dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, DisplayPort 2.1, and two HDMI 2.1 ports. One Thunderbolt 4 port provides up to 96 W Power Delivery to charge connected devices, while the other supports daisy-chaining multiple displays. Users also get auto KVM for switching between two connected computers with a single keyboard and mouse, in addition to Picture-by-Picture (PbP) and Picture-in-Picture (PiP) modes.
