What's This?

While they’ve seemingly died out a few years prior, it seems that compact Android tablets are starting to appear on the market again, as seen with some rather impressive entries from the likes of Lenovo, for example. That being said though, not all of them go the premium route, with some manufacturers opting to give buyers more affordable options with all the basics that you’d expect from a budget-friendly tablet. Enter the Honor Pad X7, an affordable device which was recently added to Honor’s lineup of Android tablets.

Given its price, there are a lot of familiar-looking specifications on the Honor Pad X7, which in a way is not too all surprising considering how other brands approach the budget segment. One of these is the 8.7-inch display on the device, which features a modest 1340 x 800 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It’s an IPS LCD display that maxes out at 625 nits, which is an obvious tell-tale sign of the device’s budget origins. The display does feature sizeable bezels on the top and bottom, and is wrapped in a metal body that comes in a single grey colour.

With that being said, the Honor Pad X7’s affordable traits extend under the hood—inside you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chip, which is a processor that’s also found on other inexpensive Android devices. It’s accompanied by up to 6GB of RAM (starting at 4GB), and up to 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card. There’s a decently-sized 7020 mAh battery though, which should be enough for most users who just want to use the tablet as an on-the-go streaming device or for casual gaming every now and then.

For software, you’re getting Android 15 on the Honor Pad X7, which is nice to see especially considering that other cheap Android devices are still somehow launching with Android 14 onboard. As with other Honor products, it does come pre-installed with exclusive software from Honor, and a few third-party apps sprinkled here and there. The tablet also comes with an 8MP camera on the rear alongside a 5MP front camera, which should be handy for video calls (you should probably stick to your phone for better-looking photos though).

As for pricing, the Pad X7 goes for around EUR 100, making it one of the most affordable tablets from Honor. However, if you’d prefer something that packs more of a punch, then we’d recommend the Honor Pad GT2 Pro, a larger and more powerful tablet overall.
