What's This?

As far as Android devices are concerned, budget tablets aren’t exactly the most groundbreaking devices out there, but they’re great options for people who just need an entertainment device or a handy addition to their home tech lineup, without having to spend too much. With that in mind, it looks Lenovo is aiming to entice as much buyers as possible with the new Lenovo Tab One, which makes its debut with a pretty low price.

You see, one of the Tab One’s biggest strengths is its price—Lenovo has priced the device at just around $130 (roughly 100GBP when converted), making it more affordable than even most smartphones on the market. As you can probably imagine though, this low price means that there are some corners which Lenovo had to cut to keep it fairly affordable for buyers. So what does it come with? Let’s take a look!

Unlike a lot of other tablets out there, the Lenovo Tab One comes with a relatively small size. It features an 8.7-inch display, which seems to be the go-to screen width for most compact tablets nowadays. Given its price though, we wouldn’t expect too much from it in the way of hardware—you’re getting a resolution of 1340×800 pixels and around 480 nits of brightness, which is not terribly impressive by any means. It’s also an IPS panel, so you won’t get the vibrant colours and contrast found on more expensive AMOLED-screened devices. The tablet also features some considerably thick bezels especially on the top and bottom of the display.

As for internal hardware, Lenovo has decided to keep things simple as well. Powering the device is MediaTek’s Helio G85 processor, a four-year-old chip that’s commonly seen on lower-end devices. This is accompanied by 64GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM, a configuration that again, is frequently included with budget Android phones and tablets. There is room for a micro SD card slot though, so you can increase the tablet’s storage for media and documents. For software, you’re getting Android 14 on the Tab One, and Lenovo says that it will provide one software update to Android 15, which is a bit of a shame given that Android 16 is on the horizon.

Finally, there’s a beefy 5,100 mAh battery inside the device, which should last most users a day and more, especially given the low power chip and the modest display hardware involved. You’re also getting a pari of cameras, with a 2MP sensor in front for selfies and videos, and an 8MP camera on the rear.
