If you’re not too familiar with webOS, LG’s webOS Hub primarily serves as a centralized visual location for all the content on your smart TV. This includes shortcuts to apps, channels, and your settings menu, for example. It’s essentially the most-accessed user interface on your TV, giving you access to all its built-in features. In fact, LG claims that over 600 brands have partnered with the brand in bringing over their services to the webOS hub within the last half-decade.

According to LG, the biggest updates with the 3rd-gen webOS Hub includes AI-based tools such as Voice Recommendation (with LG’s ThinQ AI on the backend), AI Picture with Neural Network Super Resolution and AI Sound that can reduce ambient noise while enhancing voice clarity within content. Additionally, webOS Hub 3.0 also works with System-on-Chip (SoC) technology, allowing it to function more seamlessly especially when compared to the previous generation. Chris Jo, head of LG’s webOS Platform Business Center comments:
“The launch of webOS Hub 3.0 marks a significant milestone in four key areas: market expansion, technological advancement, enhanced B2B partnerships and future growth… By providing differentiated value, LG is positioning webOS as the platform of choice for global B2B partners.”
Beyond the features mentioned, you’re also getting AI-powered picture quality, mini-LED dimming for TVs with 120Hz displays, Multiview functionality, Always On Display, and compatibility with Wi-Fi 6 and Auracast. As for content, webOS Hub 3.0 comes with access to LG’s free TV (FAST), in addition to 4,000 channels in several markets worldwide.
