What's This?

Following its unveiling of several new Predator gaming computers and gear, Acer announced that it would also be entering the e-bike arena with the Acer “ebii,” a single-motor e-bike that comes with the added bonus of AI functionality, along with software and hardware features that make for one smooth riding experience.

Along with the usual array of e-bike features, the ebii also comes with ebiiAssist that automatically adapts to a user’s route conditions, as well as their pedalling power and rider preferences. The ebii comes with a single-sided fork design and a 250/350 W motor with 48 V CAN bus and 40 Nm torque, with assisted riding of up to 25 kilometres per hour and can be configured as a front, centre, or rear hub.

Weighing at just 16kg, the ebii is built with a modular framework that houses the battery pack and control box into a single compartment, allowing for easy charging and battery transport, simple upkeep, and convenient upgradability.

Going back to the integrated AI function, the ebii can also collect user insights through the ebiiGO companion app which supports smartphone connectivity, and allows users to check recommended routes, battery life, riding speed, and auto-unlock settings, to name a few. Users can also access ebiiRide, which works with ebiiAssist to help keep riders an eye on their battery, with built-in Eco Mode, My ebii Mode, and Boost Mode.

There’s a removable battery onboard that can run for up to 110 km and charges up to 100% capacity in just 2.5 hours, built with a high-integrity design from MPS Energy that uses a unique cell layout and holder for greater charge protection and safety.

The ebii also includes a headlight and taillight that automatically illuminate in the dark, with additional lighting under the vehicle control box to increase visibility during nighttime riding. Additionally, the ebii is equipped with a Rear Collision Warning sensor that alerts riders of vehicles approaching from behind. There’s also built-in crash detection and e-bike health status notification features.

Other details include airless tires which are ideal for high-speed riding, and are made with multilayer foam inserts to avoid flat tires. The e-bike’s construction is reinforced with a rust-free, carbon belt drive that reduces the need for additional lubrication for maintenance. The Acer ebii will be available in EMEA in September starting at EUR 1,999.
