What's This?

The evolution of home security hardware has been nothing short of amazing these past few years, with manufacturers introducing new and useful hardware and software upgrades for consumers all the time. One such brand is Ring, which has made a name for itself thanks to a robust selection of home security products and accessories. Recently, Ring announced its newest addition to its security cam lineup with the Ring Stick Up Cam Pro. The new camera comes with some pretty awesome features, including 3D Motion Detection.

Motion Detection – Now in 3D

3D Motion Detection isn’t an entirely new feature, however. According to Ring, the company initially worked with the feature as far back as two years ago – the addition of radar sensors allows a camera to measure the distance of an object in its field of vision, providing users with a more accurate view of their surroundings. This also lets users assign certain zones in which to monitor, for added accuracy in alerts. 3D Motion Detection was initially made available on earlier products such as the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 and Floodlight Cam Wired Pro, to name a couple, and it’s finally made its way to the Stick Up Cam Pro as well.

Building on the popularity of the original Stick Up Cam, Ring says that it decided to go ahead and equip the Stick Up Pro with radar-powered 3D Motion Detection as users mostly fixed their cameras in spots outside their homes, which would require additional flexibility in terms of monitoring. Using the added motion detection, the Stick Up Cam Pro comes with features like Bird’s Eye View and Bird’s Eye Zones, which allows monitoring from an aerial perspective, sending users an alert when movement is detected from assigned spots.

External Design and Features

In terms of design, the Stick Up Cam Pro comes with a rather slim profile, as well as a weather-resistant design that keeps it safe from external factors such as winds and rain. Its sleek design also means that users have more freedom when it comes to choosing a spot to install their camera. Inside, the Stick Up Cam Pro comes with built-in HDR support, colour night vision capture, and can even be set for advanced pre-roll, which saves and shares six seconds’ worth of video before motion is detected.

Other details include Audio+ for clear sound recording with echo cancellation, and there’s even a security siren that helps ward off unwanted trespassers. The Stick Up Cam Pro can also run using battery, wired, and even solar power. For users with other Ring or Alexa-compatible devices, the Stick Up Cam Pro can be configured to work with voice commands and notifications.

Pricing and Availability

For users who are interested in grabbing the Stick Up Cam Pro, the camera is up for pre-order starting today priced at £159.99 for the battery and wired version, although there’s a slightly more expensive variant which comes with built-in solar power that goes for £179.99. The camera begins shipping on 18th October.
