While the feature was earlier made available for certain Galaxy S-series flagship phones, it’s only until recently that the the South Korean manufacturer decided to bring over the feature to earlier models in the A-series. With that said, users will be able to access an AI assistant via a long press of the side button via an update that’s scheduled to roll-out in May—the update will be available for the Galaxy A56 5G, A55 5G, A54 5G, A36 5G, A35 5G, A34 5G, A26 5G, A25 5G, A25e 5G, and the A24 as well.

For those unfamiliar with the feature, the software update will also support Google Gemini (in addition to Samsung’s own Assistant), and users will be able to engage with Gemini through voice commands to perform a variety of tasks. Additionally, Samsung says that this integration will extend beyond basic voice interactions, with cross-app functionality on the way. Jay Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung comments:
“Samsung and Google have been working together to deliver seamless, intuitive and meaningful AI experiences, making the latest technology more accessible for more users… We’re excited that Galaxy A series users will now be able to activate Gemini faster and more naturally through a simple gesture that brings intelligent support into the flow of daily tasks.”

This feature also arrives for Samsing’s new Galaxy A models, which made their debut back in early March this year. Consisting of the Galaxy A56, A36 and A26, all three models pack a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, though the A26 retains an older waterdrop notch design. Internally, the A56 uses Samsung’s Exynos 1580, while the A36 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, and all ship with Android 15 and One UI, with both Samsung’s Galaxy AI and Google’s own AI features.
