What's This?

Samsung’s “FE” line of products have more or less served as a more affordable alternative to its mainline devices, a lot of which usually come with pretty hefty price tags. That being said, the FE line has expanded to include smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and even wireless earbuds. Speaking of the latter, Samsung recently announced the new Galaxy Buds3 FE, which switches things up from the previous model in terms of features and design.

In terms of looks, Samsung has adopted the general design seen on the Galaxy Buds3 series (which it refers to as the “Blade” Design) with a dual-tone matte finish and a stem, which greatly differs from what we saw with the older Galaxy Buds FE. The design also allows for more varied touch controls including pinch gestures to make selections when combined with contextual app menus, as well as swipe-based controls for volume adjustment. The earbuds can also easily switch between different paired Galaxy devices with the “Auto Switch” feature.

As with most modern earbuds, they come with a lot of noise cancellation and ambient features, including AI-based sound functionality. For one, Samsung says that it also equipped the new earbuds with larger speakers for better-sounding bass and treble. Meanwhile for noise cancelling, Samsung says that it’s equipped with the Buds3 FE with enhanced ANC capabilities for reduced ambient sounds, along with clearer voice calls via a pre-trained machine learning model that can analyze and isolate a user’s voice, and keep calls sounding clear even in noisy environments.

Like a lot of other new tech products nowadays, Samsung has imbued the Buds3 FE with new AI features, which the company says are designed for a more natural-feeling, screen-free interaction. Users can trigger voice commands like “Hey Google” to check their schedule or read emails without needing to take out their phone, in addition to new features will enhance language interpretation. When paired with the Galaxy AI Interpreter app, the Buds3 FE can be used to follow foreign language lectures or have real-time conversations, with translation delivered directly to the user’s ears.

As for battery, each earbud comes with a 53 mAh capacity cell, while the charging case features a slightly-larger 515 mAh battery; Samsung claims that the earbuds can last for up to 18 hours per charge, which is pretty decent and should come in handy for long commutes and flights. The Galaxy Buds3 FE ships on the 3rd of September.
