What's This?

Just recently, new information of an upcoming budget-priced smartphone from Honor made a bit of a buzz online, and it’s probably safe to say that at this point in time, Honor has proven itself to be one of the better smartphone brands on the market, especially of you’re looking for an affordable device with all the basics. That being said, it looks like Honor’s added a new entry to its more affordable lineup with the new Honor Play 10C.

As far as hardware goes, it’s not too surprising that the Play 10C doesn’t do anything to reinvent the wheel—Honor is sticking to its budget playbook with the new phone, and it shows with the hardware. In front is a 6.61-inch display, which is built from an LCD panel with a modest 720×1604 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is surrounded by considerably thick bezels, which is a tell-tale sign of its wallet-friendly origins. It also houses a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Going over on the back, you’ll find a single 13MP camera accompanied by an LED flash; it’s mostly a polycarbonate affair, although the phone does come with IP64 protection against a bit of dust and moisture.

The phone is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 chipset, a mid-tier processor mainly used for a lot of entry-level smartphones. It’s also available in a handful of different RAM and storage configurations including your usual 4GB + 128GB combo, a 6GB + 128GB variant, and an 8GB + 256GB variant. For software, you’re getting Honor’s proprietary Magic OS skin on top of Android, with access to a number of preinstalled third-party apps as well. Like a lot of other newer Honor phones, the Play 10C packs a massive battery, and in this case the phone comes with a 6,000 mAh capacity cell.

As mentioned earlier, the Honor Play 10C is rather affordable, priced at just around £70 when converted. The kicker however is that it’s currently exclusive in China, but a phone at this price would no doubt do well especially for buyers who just need the basics without much bells and whistles involved. It’s available in either black, white, or blue,
