What's This?

A while back, Motorola (and Lenovo) announced the debut of the Moto X70 Air in China, the latest in a long line of devices which are now capitalising on the recent thin smartphone craze. While the phone was initially exclusive for buyers in China, Motorola has since expanded availability for the device, which is now finally available in the United Kingdom, albeit under the name of the Moto Edge 70. With that being said, it’s the thinnest Edge-series smartphone to date, measuring at just 6mm.

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone Air which come with flagship-level hardware, it should be noted that the Edge 70 is a slim phone for buyers who aren’t too keen on spending a lot for a thin phone. That being said though, Motorola has pretty much kept things familiar with this one using midrange hardware components, which don’t exactly mask its more affordable nature. So what exactly does the Moto Edge 70 come with? Let’s find out.

In terms of aesthetics, the Edge 70 features a sleek look thanks to its slim build, although it still pretty much retains a lot of the design elements seen on other Motorola devices, such as with its camera island design. For its cameras, the phone features a multi-lens setup with a 50MP main sensor, while the front also comes with a 50MP camera for selfies and video calls. It’s a common setup in most midrange phones these days, especially with phones in this price and hardware segment.

In front, the phone comes with a 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, with reasonably-slim bezels all over. Unlike Motorola’s other Edge smartphones, the X70 Air comes with a flat screen instead of a curved display, which is wrapped in a chassis that comes with IP68 dust and water resistance, and is available in three different Pantone colours including Lily Pad, Bronze Green, and Gadget Grey.

Under the hood, the Moto Egde 70 shows evidence of its mid-tier status with its chipset, which in this case takes the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, a rarity given that most current Motorola phones tend to use MediaTek chipsets. It’s a far cry from the 8 Elite series processors that we’ve gotten on more expensive flagship devices, although the 7-series Snapdragon chipsets remain pretty capable especially considering their price segment. The phone also comes with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and is powered by a 4800mAh battery with support for 68W charging.

As for its price, the Moto Edge 70 comes in at around 700 quid, which is priced much lower than rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone Air. That being said though, its chipset is a bit underpowered especially considering that 700 quid can bag you devices like the iPhone 16 and Galaxy S25, both of which come with more powerful processors. However, if all you’re after is a slim Motorola phone, then the Edge 70 might be worth looking into.
