It’s been quite a busy week for Xiaomi—alongside the launch of the company’s new POCO F8 series phones, we also saw the debut of two tablets under the POCO line, the POCO Pad X1 and Pad M1. If you’re wondering why they look a bit familiar, that’s because the two devices share the same design and a number of hardware specs with the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Redmi Pad 2 Pro, which also made their debut this year.

Let’s start with the Pad X1. Colours aside, it pretty much comes with the same aesthetics and dimensions as the Xiaomi Pad 7, although this isn’t necessarily bad. You get a large 11.2-inch LCD display in front with a 2136 x 3200 pixel resolution, and an incredibly smooth 144Hz refresh rate. The tablet also comes with slim bezels, which add to its overall premium look (that echoes the iPad Pro, if we’re being honest). It’s also available in grey and dark blue colour variants.

Inside, the tablet comes with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip, and while you won’t get blazing-fast performance benchmark scores on this one, it should be said that the 7+ Gen 3 is still a capable processor. It’s also accompanied by 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, although it would have been nice to see a 12GB RAM version of the tablet. Other features include an 8MP and 13MP camera combo, and a pretty large 8850mAh battery with 45W charging support.

Meanwhile, the POCO Pad X1 comes with a larger 12-inch display with a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, which makes for a more hefty form factor when compared to the X1. On the other hand, this large size allows it to fit a higher-capacity battery at 12,000mAh, although charging is a bit slower at 33W. This does make it ideal though for Netflix binges and long trips where you might just want to sit back, relax and tune into your favourite content.

The Pad M1 is powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip, which ranks just a bit below the Pad X1’s 7+ Gen 3 chipset. Like the X1, storage options are a bit limited with just a single 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, although Xiaomi has provided a microSD card slot which should come in handy for adding more room for your media files and whatnot. They’re priced at around $329 and $399 for the Pad M1 and X1, respectively.
