What's This?

The LG G2 has been officially launched at the event in New York, with the phone stepping over the Optimus Pro and ending the ‘Optimus’ line of phones, with the new shorter name.

Not much has been released at the LG G2 event we didn’t already know beforehand from leaks, the Snapdragon 800 processor will power the phone alongside 2GB of RAM, it will be available with 16 or 32GB storage options, the 3000mAh battery is said to house a full day of battery life and there will be no microSD card slot.

The design of the LG G2, at least on the front, is simply stunning. The 5.2-inch full HD IPS screen with minimal bezel space makes the device one of the best out there for pixel junkies. On the back is the volume and on/off switch, the volume buttons also work as quick launchers for the camera and QuickMemo.

Speaking of the camera, the LG G2 comes with a 13MP OIS sensor, one of the best on the Android market. Putting it up against competitors (an iPhone and Galaxy S) LG showed the camera could hold an image even when the user is shaking the phone.

The LG G2 will come with studio professional sound output, 192k 28bit, this is a big leap from the previous standard and we question if LG has really made it this far with audio.

Last on the event was the user experience, the LG G2 comes with a few new apps and features on the software side:

  • Knock On – User taps on phone to wake it up.
  • Answer Me – User puts phone to ear to answer call.
  • TextLink – Users taps on text to open calendar and other apps.
  • Plug & Pop – When user plugs in headphones, app tray appears with compatible apps.
  • Guest Mode – On lockscreen, guests can draw G pattern to enter guest mode.

The LG G2 will be coming to 130 international carriers, including all the major ones in the UK. We are unsure about the date, sometime within the next month, hopefully.
