What's This?

It’s been tipped that LG have had their partnership renewed with Google and Korean reports suggest this could bring the successor to the Nexus 4 to the smartphone market very soon. It’s not clear when it’ll be released or what the internal spec is going to be but  so far we do think we might see it introduced at the upcoming Google I/O event, although, as SlashGear writer Chris Davies points out, with the change in pace of the Smartphone Market, we could see something sooner rather than later to match other competitors in the market.

If LG has successfully renewed it’s contract with Google it’ll be in the same league as Samsung with two consecutive phones from the company.  Samsung previously creating the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus. With this in mind, LG are also reportedly in talks with the internet giant about a OLED Google TV which could hint at a bigger project for the future of television and on demand services.

LG’s last Google phone the Nexus 4 had favorable reviews with 4 stars across most reviewers, and at the £239 mark it wasn’t ridiculously expensive like some phones on the market at the time. Boasting a 720p screen, 2GB of ram and 8MP camera, with being only 9.1mm thick there was a lot jammed in there. The benchmarks were impressive and overall it was a great phone, so LG have a lot to beat this time, but with a backer like Google we could see some crazy stuff.

Some things we would like to see though include expandable storage (or at least something bigger than 8GB), Android Key Lime Pie, better battery and maybe something to fix the outdoor glare on screen.

With such a big slash in the phone market with the Nexus 4 it’s exciting to see what comes next.
