While you could say that Apple’s iPad series are the most popular tablets in a lot of regions worldwide, it should be said that we’ve been seeing more and more Android manufacturers step up their game when it comes to newer tablet models. Take for example the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro, which recently made its debut in China. Priced at around CNY 3,199 (or around 330 quid when converted), the tablet gets a lot of things right, making it a formidable entry within the mid-tier product segment.

There’s one big consideration however—like a lot of recent smartphone releases from multiple Chinese brands and manufacturers, the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro is currently exclusive to China. There’s no word yet on a western release, although we’re hoping that it eventually makes its way here. That being said, what kind of hardware can you expect with the tablet? Let’s take a look.

The OnePlus Pad 2 Pro comes with a large 13.2-inch LCD display, with a 7:5 ratio and a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate. While LCD isn’t “bad” per se, the lack of an AMOLED or OLED panel means that you might lose out on deep contrast and more vibrant and punchy colours, but given the midrange price of the tablet this is somewhat understandable. It is pretty sharp with a 3392 x 2400 pixel resolution, and has a decent peak brightness of up to 900 nits.
Much like a lot of other tablets these days, the Pad 2 Pro’s display is wrapped up in a sleek-looking aluminium chassis, which is available in Deep Sea Blue and Glacier Silver variants. This also houses a large 12,410 mAh battery, which does support 67W charging speeds via USB-C. We reckon for most users, this should be more than enough to last a day of video streaming, web browsing, and maybe even a bit of light gaming.

Speaking of gaming however, the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro is more than capable of running intensive games and apps—inside the tablet is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset which is ideal for performance-heavy software. The Pad 2 Pro also comes in a number of different memory and storage configurations, starting at 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, 12GB + 256/512GB, and maxing out at 16GB + 512GB. You’re also getting a 13MP main camera on the rear and 8MP camera in front for selfies and video calls.

For software, there’s Android 15 running on the tablet, although this comes with a heavy dose of ColorOS 15, which is Oppo’s proprietary Android skin, although OnePlus also uses it for its Chinese-version devices. In any case, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that OnePlus and Oppo will eventually bring the Pad 2 Pro to western shores.
