What's This?

Xiaomi’s had one heck of a week, at least as far as product releases go—the Chinese tech giant recently announced its latest addition to its tablet range with the new Xiaomi Pad 7s Pro, a premium-tier tablet that comes with some nice surprises up its sleeve, especially given its sub-400-quid pricing scheme. The tablet was unveiled alongside several other Xiaomi products, which include the company’s new YU7 electric SUV.

In terms of design, the Xiaomi Pad 7s Pro doesn’t do anything groundbreaking, nor does it need to—at this point in time, tablet product designs have mostly hit a plateau, and all really Xiaomi needs to do is equip the Pad 7s Pro with a look that goes beyond its more wallet-friendly origins. This includes an aluminium chassis which wraps around a large 12.5-inch IPS screen, which itself has a relatively-sharp resolution of 2136×3200 pixels. While it doesn’t get too bright (peaking at only 1,000 nits) and it doesn’t come with the deep contrast and vibrancy of OLED displays, it’s nevertheless gets the job done.

One key feature of the Xiaomi Pad 7s Pro is the chipset that’s running inside. If you remember from a while back, Xiaomi announced that it’s developed its own in-house smartphone processor, the XRING 01. It’s this same chip that’s powering the Pad 7s Pro, and is built on a 3nm process. The XRING 01 features 19 billion transistors, a 10-core CPU (including dual Cortex-X925 cores at 3.9GHz), and a 16-core Immortalis-G925 GPU, which was able to score 3 million points on AnTuTu benchmarks (based on the company’s testing). It also comes with Xiaomi’s fourth-gen ISP and a 6-core NPU offering 44 TOPS for AI processing.

Accompanying the chip is a decent base memory and storage configuration at 8GB and 256GB, with an option for a more spacious 16GB and 1TB setup. HyperOS2 runs the show here, so you’re getting access to apps and software features from Xiaomi. You’re also getting a 10,610 mAh battery inside the tablet, which should be ideal for all-day use especially with games, content streaming, web browsing and such. There’s also fast-charging support which tops out at 120W.

The tablet also comes with a 50MP main camera on the rear which is complemented by a 32MP front camera, six speakers with Dolby Atmos support, and the choice of a matte-finish display for buyers. The Xiaomi Pad 7s Pro starts at around £335 when converted.
