Perhaps at this point it’s safe to say that smaller phones are on their way to making a proper comeback, with the likes of OnePlus and Samsung maintaining smaller 6.3-inch devices within their lineups, for example. With that in mind, Vivo has now joined the party with its new S30 series in China, which includes the Vivo S30 and the more pocket-friendly Vivo S30 Pro mini.

Let’s get some differences out of the way—while the two phones share a familiar look, the Vivo S30 features a larger 6.67-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, and is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. Meanwhile, the smaller S30 Pro Mini offers a more compact form factor with a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display, and keeps the FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. One thing to note though is that it runs on MediaTek’s higher-end Dimensity 9300+ processor.

Despite its smaller dimensions, the S30 Pro mini also manages to cram in a 6,500 mAh battery, matching that of the larger S30, and both models support 90W fast charging. If you were wondering just how small it is, the S30 Pro mini measures 150×71.7×7.99mm and weighs 186 grams, placing it in a similar size category to the Vivo X200 Pro mini, for example.
Both S30 series phones are equipped with triple rear camera setups, which includes a 50MP main sensor (23mm), a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto lens (70mm), and an 8MP ultrawide lens. For the main sensor, the S30 uses Sony’s LYT-700V sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), while the S30 Pro mini features the IMX921 sensor. Both models share the IMX882 sensor for the periscope lens. On the front, both devices are fitted with 50MP cameras for selfies and video calls.

As for other features, Vivo’s new S30 series handsets feature optical fingerprint scanners for biometrics. The Vivo S30 comes with an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, whereas the S30 Pro mini comes with a bit protection with an IP68/69 rating, which should keep it relatively-safe from pressurized water jets. Both models run on Vivo’s OriginOS 5, which is based on Android 15.
