What's This?

Not too long ago, Honor unveiled the Magic V5 Pro in China, which features some pretty impressive upgrades in terms of both hardware and software, especially when compared to the company’s earlier foldable devices. That being said, the company more recently announced the expanded roll-out of the phone for more regions including the United Kingdom as well as markets throughout the rest of Europe. Honor’s confident that the V5 has what it takes to overcome competing rivals, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7.

Launched alongside the Honor MagicPad 3 and the MagicBook Art 14, the Magic V5 is one of Honor’s key products which makes up its AI-focused approach to its new products moving forward, with the company even teaming up with Google to integrate Gemini into the V5’s DNA. That being said, the V5 also shines when it comes to hardware improvements, with Honor introducing a reinforced hinge design that according to the company won’t easily break when under pressure.

It’s pretty lightweight as well, with Honor claiming measurements of 271 grams for the lighter colour variant, and 222 grams for the other models, which is surprisingly easy even with one-handed use, as well as when slipping the phone in and out of your pockets. Speaking of pockets, the Magic V5 should have no trouble fitting into most spaces thanks to its 8.8mm thickness, which goes down to 4.1mm once you open the phone.

Display quality is another highlight of the Magic V5. The phone comes with a 6.43-inch external display that peaks at 5,000 nits of brightness, and also features a 120Hz refresh rate; on the inside, there’s a 7.95-inch foldable LTPO OLED panel which also features the same brightness and smoothness as on the outer screen. Honor adds that it’s included an Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield for the outer display, as well as Carbon Fibre-reinforcements for the inner screen. The company also offers a one-year warranty should a user damage either of their phone’s screens.

For software, there’s Android 15 running the show with MagicOS 9 layered on top, giving users access to Honor’s AI-based software features for photo editing as well as its image-to-video AI generator, first made popular by the Honor Magic 400 series. Honor has teamed up with Qualcomm to bring the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip on here, and this is accompanied by 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage; there’s also a 5,820 mAh silicon-carbon battery that can charge at 66W wired and 50W wireless speeds.

Camera duties are handled by a pretty versatile camera system—as such, the Magic V5 comes with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera. You’ll also find 20MP front cameras on both the inner and outer screens. (You can check out camera samples on our full review in the video below).

With all that being said, the Honor Magic V5 also comes with a considerably-expensive price. The 16GB RAM model comes priced at £1,699.99 for buyers in the UK, and is available in three different colours including Dawn Gold, Ivory White, and Black.
