iPad users, rejoice—those of you in need of a new upgrade might want to check out what Apple has in store with the 2025 iPad Pro, which now comes with the company’s latest M5 chip. That being said, the new iPad Pro does feature some pretty sweet performance upgrades while keeping things familiar, especially in terms of hardware and design. It’s available in 11 and 13-inch sizes, but what else does it come with? Let’s check it out.

In terms of looks, both iPad sizes come with pretty much the same design seen on most tablets these days, with slim bezels all around. They are pretty thin though, with the 11-inch model measuring just 5.3 mm thin, and the 13-inch model going slightly slimmer at 5.1 mm. Available in Space Black and Silver colour variants, they also feature capable displays with 1000 nits of full-screen brightness for SDR and HDR content, with 1600 nits peak brightness for HDR.

Taking a look inside, the new M5 chip also includes a faster CPU and a third-generation ray-tracing engine for improved visuals, and Apple also claims that it’s capable of up to 1.5x faster 3D rendering with ray tracing compared to the previous-generation iPad Pro, and up to 6.7x faster than the M1 model; the newer tablets also offers up to 2x faster storage read and write speeds, at least going by Apple’s benchmark tests. One big change is that both models also come with 12GB of memory, and are available in 256GB and 512GB storage variants (maxing out at 2TB).
The new models also come with some changes in terms of connectivity, with Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip running the show with support for Wi-Fi 7. This is joined by the C1X modem, which is found in the cellular versions of the M5 Pro.

The new iPad Pro M5 uses a newer GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core, which on paper should offer significant gains in performance. Apple says that the M5 chip delivers up to 3.5x faster AI performance compared to the M4 iPad Pro, and up to 5.6x faster than the M1 model. This acceleration is designed to enhance demanding tasks like on-device diffusion-based image generation and AI video masking. For software, the M5 Pros come with iPadOS 26, which includes Apple’s new AI tricks and the Liquid Glass UI design, to name a couple.

Both models also come with 12MP cameras on both the front and back, and are powered by a 31.29Wh battery for the 11-inch model, and a slightly-larger 38.99Wh cell for the larger model. They’re now available for pre-order starting today and will hit store shelves on October 22, with the 11-inch model starting at £999 for the Wi-Fi version and £1,199 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular version, while the larger 13-inch model starts at £1,299 for Wi-Fi and £1,499 for Wi-Fi + Cellular.
